Louis Vuitton Fox Tail Bag

If Marc Jacobs has it his way, furry foxtails will be this season’s equivalent to Miuccia Prada’s robots. Certain A-list models and celebrities have already been spotted sporting the latest “It” accessory attached to their Louis Vuitton spring runway bags, and I say go for it–if you’ve got the cash to spare. Vuitton’s spring runway pieces are mostly messenger-style bags, one of which is seen here on the gorgeous Elle Macpherson, but what I find funny is that given the propensity of wearers to sling these bags across their bodies, they end up looking like they have “bushy tails” thanks to where the bag ends up resting (right on the bum). I recently previewed these pieces at a private trunk show and while I did warm up to them more than I initially did when in Paris at the show, I’m not one to leave myself vulnerable to fashion ridicule (translation: I won’t be adopting this trend). I do, however, applaud the folks at Vuitton for making the foxtails–and the assorted other available accoutrement–both optional and detachable. Talk about versatility right? Not only will forgoing a foxtail more than make up for the tax on one of these four-figure carryalls, but should you get a foxtail, it can double as a keychain, a rearview mirror charm or even a duster for that fancy housewife out there.

Hermes Lindy Bag

Filed under: LV — admin @ 3:17 am

Hermes lovers who are looking for something new from the brand will be delighted with its newest bag offering for Spring/Summer 09. The Hermes Lindy Bag is a slouchier alternative for those who are looking for less structure and a more relaxed feel from the iconic brand. Double sided compartments offer sound organizational solutions. The collapse at the center lends the more casual feeling from the bag, but can also be used as additional storage should the 2 side compartments not suffice.

This purse is an investment piece, and could be well on its way to becoming an Hermes classic.

Victoria Beckham Crocodile Hermes Birkin

Filed under: Hermes — admin @ 11:00 pm

She has finally done it! We have seen Victoria Beckham carry her Hermes Ostrich Birkin, Hermes Kelly Longue, Rouge Birkin, white Birkin, Hermes Kelly Lizard Pochette, Hermes Baccara Clutch, and the list goes on. But when it has come to her Birkin’s, Victoria has seemingly stuck with leather, not exotics. Sure there has been an ostrich or two, but compared to her collection it is minuscule. Finally she has taken a crocodile out to show the world. Victoria Beckham was seen leaving her NYC hotel on her way to lunch with her hot hubby David carrying a 35 cm Shiny Crocodile Miel Hermes Birkin. Her Crocodile Birkin is what I consider divine and one of the perfect staples of the house of Hermes. She pulls of the size perfectly, not allowing it to over-power her, but wearing it as what it is meant to be, an accessory. Price is not cheap nor anywhere near cheap, and hearing rumors of more price increases only makes it that much more un-affordable to the masses. But that is what Hermes wants, and that is what they have created. And yes, many of you do not like Victoria Beckham, but just see this post as me showcasing a stunning bag!

Gucci Race Medium Top Handle Handbag

Filed under: Gucci — admin @ 11:00 pm

Racy and modern is the theme behind the Gucci Spring/Summer handbag line. A plethora of silver metallic can be found on many of the Gucci bags. The Gucci Race Medium Top Handle Handbag features metal plate details but is not immersed in silver. I am completely neutral about the bag, but am totally loathing the tassel details on either side. Tassels belong at the bottom of curtains and on many bags just look annoying. Black suede is the basis of the bag, which if offset by purple and red piping and metal plate detailing. Is it s a good thing or a bad thing that I am really just indifferent? Don’t love it, don’t hate it, just makes me say Ehhhh. Measurements are 9 2/5″H x 20 1/2″W x 6 1/3″D.

Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Bowling Montaigne

Filed under: LV — admin @ 11:00 pm

In the South, we’re a little weird about college football. If any of you grew up or went to college south of the Mason-Dixon line, you’re already aware of this phenomenon. Not only do our college teams garner much more ardent support than any of our professional teams, but people devote themselves to their Alma maters with an emotional vigor that is rare to find elsewhere in all of sports. So what’s this got to do with handbags, you say? Well, today is opening day of the 2008 college football season, and although most of the games aren’t until Saturday, a few will be televised tonight and kick off (literally) the happiest 12 weeks of the year for this sports fan. Not only that, but this time of year brings about an odd dressing conundrum for all female football fans that support schools in the South.

Because here, you can’t just wear *anything* to a game. We dress up for football like some people dress up for church - and we do it in our team’s colors. Some schools (particularly those where orange figures prominently, bleh) have a harder time of it than others, and I like to think that my school chose wisely. I am an alumni of The University of Georgia, and our colors are red and black. I’ve bought an untold number of dresses, pairs of shoes, and pieces of jewelry in red and black, thinking, “Great! I can wear this on game day!” In reality, there are only 6 or 7 home games per year, and I have more sundresses and red jewelry than I could ever hope to wear to them.

Not everyone understands the desire to dress up for a football game, but in the South, it’s a tradition - my mother and father did it decades before me (at Auburn and UGA, respectively), and it’s a custom that I’m proud to carry on. It harkens back to an era when social events, including football games, were worthy of proper dressing, and also an era where women didn’t go outside in sweatpants with words on their bottoms. Obviously, this tradition was made for me.

One thing that’s very important for a put-together look, as all of you know, is a great bag, and it’s no less important on game days. A good, functional, fashionable bag can make or break the day since keeping your things with you and safe while traipsing from tailgate to tailgate is essential if you want to eventually make it inside the game (tickets! Guard the tickets!).

My personal pick? The Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Bowling Montaigne PM in red (Louis Vuitton is more common at southern football games than you’d think). Epi leather is rigid and durable, and the bag would probably be weighty enough to use to smack an opposing fan in the head. The PM size would be small enough to tuck safely under the bleacher and the zip-top closure would keep things safely inside where the bag to tip over or fall off a seat (because if you lose your ticket, the world ends). And the color?

Celebrities with their Prada Fairy Bags

Filed under: Other Brand — admin @ 10:59 pm

When we broke the story of the Prada Fairy Bag, we knew it was going to be a hit. But unbeknownst to us, it has become the total “it” bag of the season. Everyone wants this bag. I am on the list, but it seems the odds of getting this bag are slim to none. I suppose it is because every celebrity got their Prada Fairy Bag already, and the rest of us ‘normal’ folk will just have to wait for eons. Who is carrying this bag? While they are not the hottest celebrities out there, Tilda Swinton, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Catherine Deneuve, and Anna Wintour’s daughter Bee Schaeffer have been snapped carrying the hottest, must have bag of the season.
